Abstract

Nowadays, the presence of chemical compounds that promove damage to human health and other organisms is a major problem. This problem it comes specially when to hormonal disrupters that have estrogenic activity in metabolism. Parabens are one of the compounds classes that deserves attention due to its intense estrogenic activity which is found in the majority of foods, cosmetics, cleaning and pharmaceutical products, among others, These compounds are widely used in food industries as preservatives and due their antimicrobial activity. However adverse effects have been observed, due to their ability to trigger certain hormonal changes that increase the chances of developing cancers in the breasts, prostate and ovary, as well as the decrease in mobility of spermatozoa. Based on this problem, it is essential to develop a fast, easy and low cost method to determine the concentration of parabens in environmental, medicines and foods samples. LbL (Layer-by-Layer) technique that has been highlighted due to its simplicity and ease of manufacture and the development of electrochemical sensors. LbL method consists of the adsorption of polyelectrolytes on an electrically charged substrate, only by a sequence of cationic and anionic solutions in beakers, resulting in bilayers film having unique properties, allowing the molecules of the analyte of interest to be adsorbed by Van der Waals and electrostatic interactions. In this project, LbL films will be formed with magnetite nanoparticles and polypyrrole. The film will be characterized by spectroscopic techniques (infrared and ultraviolet) and electrochemical techniques such as Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and for validation of the Capillary Electrophoresis (CE) sensing method. The films will also be analyzed morphologically by SEM and EDX. (AU)
