Abstract

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder, classified in three different levels of severity (light, moderate and severe). People with autism have deficits like difficulty in communication and social interaction, as well as restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior. So it is possible to observe that various academics skills may be impaired for such behaviors. This proposal, focus on literacy a compromised skill in people with this. With regard to psychology, interventions are used for helping, in differents contexts, individuals with diagnosis of autism. Discrete Trial Training (DTT), is an intervention strategy based on ABA scientifically validated that produces promising results when applied to people with autism. From the computational point of view, it's known that children with autism shows interest and best results when in contact with technology. Nevertheless, it is still a challenge create suitable educational technologies with the purpose of helping the improvement of literacy skills in children with autism. In this context, this master's proposal aims to develop an approach based on technology, DTT and gamification concepts.By systematically integrating these three elements, it is hoped that it will be possible to develop a prototype that has a positive impact on motivation and literacy improvement.
