Abstract

Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an economically important crop both for domestic consumption and for export. As the yield of this crop is still very low, alternatives are sought to obtain more productive cultivars. The carioca commercial group has great demand in the market and the knowledge of the genetic variability that regulates the coloring of grains and the darkening of the same among the different cultivars is of great importance. This is because the early darkening of beans of the carioca type triggers a rejection by the consumers and for this reason; there is a decay of its commercial value. In this context, the objective of this work will be to genotype two Bulks with microsatellites in the search for polymorphism, one bulk being composed of genotypes of clear tegument and another of dark tegument, and the other of genotypes of fast darkening and genotypes of slow darkening. When polymorphic, these markers will be analyzed in the set of 150 "carioca" panel genotypes and will be incorporated via associative mapping along with the SNPs (Process FAPESP 2017/24711-4). It is expected that this study will provide genetic evidence of the relationship between grain coloring and accelerated darkening of carioca-type tegument grains and possible candidate genes associated with these characteristics for molecular marker assisted selection.
