Abstract

The proposed postdoctoral stage project consists in the development of strategies for dicarbofunctionalization of deactivated olefins using carbon dioxide and radical precursors. Initially, a nickel catalyzed redox strategy of trifluoromethylcarboxylation, using (2,2,2-trifluoroacetoxy) pyridinium trifluoroacetate as a precursor of the trifluoromethyl radical will be investigated. This strategy will then be expanded to other radical precursors, N- (acyloxy) -phthalimides and Katritzsky salts, in order to provide carboxyalkylated hydrocarbons from radicals derived from carboxylic acids and amines. In parallel, efforts will also be employed to develop photocatalytic versions of these processes, with the aim of replacing the use of reducing agents, typically employed in excess in this type of chemistry.
