Analysis of the influence of postural changes in low back pain in pregnant women with type 1 Diabetes

Abstract

Gestation triggers significant physiological and biomechanical changes, which interfere with the posture and presence of low back pain. When associated with diabetes mellitus, these modifications may be even more aggravating. The objective of this study is to evaluate in pregnant women in the 3rd quarter, the influence of type 1 diabetes mellitus on postural changes correlated to low back pain. Therefor To do so, 40 women will be divided into two equal groups (n = 20): pregnant women with type 1 diabetes (GDM1) and pregnant women without the disease (GSD). The posture, anteroposterior oscillation by baropodometry and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire (PPAQ) questionnaires will be evaluated, correlating them to the level of physical activity and functional disability offered by pain when present. The assumptions of normality and homoscedasticity between the variances of the data will be verified by the statistical tests of Shapiro-Wilk and Levene. Subsequently, the effects of the groups will be observed applying to Shapiro-Wilk, followed by Tukey's post-hoc test. Data that do not meet the requirements of the parametric methods will be applied the Kruskal-Wallis tests, followed by the Mann-Whitney with Bonferroni correction (± = 0.0056). The Wilcoxon test will be used to analyze the comparison between paired data. To verify the degree of association between the anthropometric and baropodometric variables the Spearman correlation. In all analyzes, the level of significance alpha = 5% will be considered.
