Abstract

The aim is to evaluate the impact of environmental conditions on green seed tolerance, yield and quality of oil and protein in a soybean genotype with increased ß-carotene synthesis. The plants will be grown in greenhouse in the absence of stress with free water supplement (field capacity) and average temperature of 24.7ºC. At stage R5.1, the plants will be maintained under these conditions and alternately transferred to stress conditions where the average temperature will vary from 25.7 to 39.5°C and the soil water potential will be -0.1 MPa. The flowers will be labeled and the seeds in development will be harvested manually from the R6 to the R9 stage. The collected seeds will be analyzed for germination, vigor, desiccation tolerance, longevity, retention of chlorophyll, abscisic acid content, oil quantity and quality, tocopherol and chlorophyll content in oil and protein. In addition, gene expression will be studied with genes already described as involved in the degradation of chlorophyll. To indicate environmental stress, the content of malondialdehyde and hydrogen peroxide will be evaluated at the R6 stage. (AU)
