Abstract

The state of São Paulo has several points that meet the conditions necessary for the transmission of arboviruses: they have vertebrates that can act as reservoir hosts for such viruses, mosquito species known as vectors and humans, subject to infections by such viruses. Thus, the objective of the present work will be to identify the presence of Flavivirus and Alphavirus in mosquitoes (Diptera: Culicidae) collected in São Paulo State. The traps used will be: vacuum cleaner, Shannon and CDC-CO2. Mosquitoes will be transported to the laboratory on dry ice, identified on a cold table and grouped into pools of up to 10 non-engorged females, by species, date and place of collection. After this, the samples will be subjected to Flavivirus detection and Alphavirus by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Positive samples will be sent for sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. Thus, it is intended to contribute to the knowledge about the existence, distribution and frequency of Flavivirus and Alphavirus in São Paulo State mosquitoes and to raise epidemiological data to help prevent arbovirus transmission to humans.
