Abstract

This Scientific Initiation research project aims to conduct a survey of the libraries that the city of Campinas have in operation - public libraries and libraries in public schools - for the care of children and adolescents. Regarding the specific objectives, it is presented: (I) identify and locate the discovered libraries; (II) to know the functioning of each one in relation to the attendance to the public, as well as its collection. It is a quantitative and qualitative research. Through internet search, the public libraries will be located and quantified, as well as the identification of the municipal and state schools of the city that have a functioning library. Confirmation of the existence of a library in the mentioned institutions will be made by email or telephone. From the identification and location of the city's libraries, unstructured visits and interviews will be conducted with the librarians responsible for those spaces to know more closely the operation of each one. It is expected to discuss the library offer to the people of Campinas, the reader training, the literary education, as well as the development of language skills, contributing to the training of teachers. It is also expected to contribute to the field of educational policies.
