Abstract

Fatigue is the inability to maintain physical effort with the same previous efficiency, a phenomenon that is due to the reduction of the body's forces due to excessive work, long duration or functional defects. Fatigue can be of central or muscle origin, causing a reduction in muscle contraction strength and increasing relaxation time. This work aims to evaluate the effects of exercising and training under muscle fatigue-related variables. For this, we will use eight Pure-Blood Arabian horses, male and female with an approximate weight of 380 kg from the flock of the School of Agricultural and Veterinary Studies (FACV-Unesp), Jaboticabal campus. The animals will initially undergo the adaptation process to the escalator of the Equine Sports Medicine Laboratory, where they will perform two exercise tests, a previous test and a second one after the six-week training which will be carried out on the basis of the minimum lactate speed determined in the first exercise test. During both exercise tests, four blood samples will be made for biochemical analyses, one at rest, one in heating, two in the hyperlactatemia induction step. These samples will determine values for potassium (K+), calcium (Ca++), glucose (Gli) and lactate (Lac-) by blood gas analysis and values for inorganic phosphorus (Pi) through the commercial kit. The obtained data will be submitted to statistical analysis for further discussion. (AU)
