Abstract

This research project intends to investigate how skateboarding and surfing practices were transformed in the image projected over them during the 21st Century. The work is justified by the unprecedentedness of the two practices among the five new Olympic modalities to be played at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Under the bias of Discourse Analysis, this work aims to understand, from the broadcasts and repercussions made by TV Globo during that time. event, how the projected image of the practitioners of these two sports will be present in the speeches televised by the broadcasters, since the country has athletes with potential chance of medal in the two modalities studied here.
