Abstract

This project is guided by the question: "The integration of function dimensions methane production and consumption will allow us to predict the effect of land use CH4" cycle. This proposal aims to evaluate aspects of methane production by measuring the rate of the methane concentration in the soil. Nevertheless, it is objective to verify how this The rate/concentration varies with substrate availability and environmental conditions or over time to determine the sensitivity of methane production to changes. The composition isotopic analysis of soil flow or gas can be used to infer the relative contribution of different biochemical pathways in methane production at a given location. Together, These approaches can provide essential information on the functional dimension of microbial biodiversity and its relationship to taxonomic and genetic dimensions. We will use these approaches to determine the response of microbial biodiversity to land use change in theAmazon forest soils. Our working hypothesis is that Amazonian soils have a specific set of microorganisms, which have a specific functioning of the methane consumption/emission according to ecosystems. (AU)
