Abstract

Andrology is the branch of medicine that studies the reproductive health of men. In this field, the testes are endocrine organs critical for the production of male sex hormones, control of the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonadal axis and determining the quality of spermatogenesis, essential activities for male reproductive capacity. Total testicular volume (VTT) is a clinical marker for several andrological diseases and may originate from a number of modern lifestyle habits such as anabolic steroid abuse, physical inactivity, recreational drug use, smoking, alcoholism, and caffeine consumption. Objective: To analyze the influence of lifestyle and lifestyle factors on the testicular volume of infertile men seeking specialized care. Methods: This retrospective study will include data from 302 medical records of patients from the FMUSP Andrology Sector and the Androscience Laboratory, served between 2000 and 2020. After data collection, patients will be divided into four groups for analysis. statistic. They are: normozoospermic men without / with reduced testicular volume, men with seminal alteration without / with reduced testicular volume. The following patient information will be included: VTT, as assessed by Prader's orchidometer, Seager caliper, or testicular palpation; seminal analysis, performed according to the criteria established by the World Health Organization. The data will be analyzed to verify its normality. Then, the frequencies, central tendency measurements and correlations will be analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 software.
