Abstract

The associations between diet and sleep quality in people living with HIV (PLWH) are still underexplored. This project aims to explore the hypothesis that dietary inflammatory potential can be positively or negatively associated with the sleep quality in these persons. As such, 50 PLWH, men, with body mass index within the normality interval, will be studied. The participants will be distributed in 5 age intervals (10 in each interval:18 to 29 years; 30 to 39 years; 40 to 49 years; 50 to 59 years; 60 or more years). Diet will be evaluated from two 24h food recall, which will be calculated for the dietary inflammatory index (DII). Sleep and sleepless will be investigated by Epworth (EES-BR) scale and by the Pittsburgh (PSQI-BR) sleep quality index. The data will be analyzed by correlation and regression analysis, maintaining as a dependent variable sleep quality scores. The DII will be considered as independent variable, and we will include the age and the different combinations of antiretroviral therapy as adjust variables. The relevance of this study will be to allow planning of non-pharmacological interventions. (AU)
