Abstract

In this proposal, integrated to the project "Dimensions US-BIOTA-São Paulo: Integrating dimensions of microbial biodiversity across land use change in tropical forests" (FAPESP 2014/50320-4), the trainee will be involved in the project targeting the functional microbial groups related to methane cycling in Amazonian soils. The student will support the work developed by the postdoctoral researchers, where the use of stable-isotope probing (SIP) analysis will be combined with traditional culturing strategies, to get a final picture on the active members of the community performing these transformations.
