Abstract

This project aims to verify the interaction of temperature, pH and precursor concentration in the synthesis by co-precipitation of DCPD particles, and the effect of the particles on the physical-chemical properties of experimental resin composites capable of releasing calcium ions for dental remineralization. In total, eight combinations of temperature, pH and precursor concentration (two levels for each factor) will be evaluated. The particles will be characterized in terms of the calcium orthophosphate phase formed (X-ray diffraction), size (laser scattering), surface area (BET method) and morphology (scanning electron microscopy). Those with smaller size and larger surface area will be ground in a jet mill and characterized again. These particles will be used experimental composites with 40% by volume of particles in different proportions between the barium (reinforcement) and DCPD glasses, which will be evaluated in terms of degree of conversion (near infrared spectroscopy), fracture toughness KIc , single-edge notched beam method) and ion release (coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy, ICP-OES). Once the normality and homoscedasticity requirements were met, the data resulting from the two-factor variation analysis and Tukey's test (alpha: 5%).
