Abstract

The objective of the project will be to investigate the importance of oral health and use of services of mothers of children and adolescents attending the Faculty of Dentistry of Araraquara, FOAr / UNESP. This is an observational, cross-sectional study, from the application of a semi-structured, self-administered questionnaire to mothers(n=200) of children and adolescents treated at Pediatric Dentistry clinics, Orthodontics and Public Health III at FOAr. The studied variables will be socioeconomic conditions (ethnicity, age, family income, education, property and household),mechanical oral morbidity (toothache, need for dental treatment), use of services (frequency, reason, location and quality of dental consultations),knowledge about oral health (definitions, brushing, prevention, importance and orientation), self-perception of oral health (satisfaction), beliefs (discernment of myths and truths) and personal values. Data collection will be performed by a researcher, by applying the questionnaire to mothers in the waiting rooms of clinics. The data will be valid in a descriptive manner, with frequencies absolute and relative. The response variables will be the importance given to oral health and the use of dental services.
