Abstract

The governmental and non-governmental organizations that aid the elderly in municipalities should be registered with the Municipal Council for the Elderly (CMI). In São Carlos, CMI was implemented in 1998 (Municipal Law No. 11,870 / 98). Among the actions that this Council develops, the registration of organizations that provide care to the elderly has been highlighted, since in partnership with the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) the updating and systematization has been carried out in recent years, in addition to these data being important for directing policies for care for the active or frail elderly. The registration, updating and verification of the areas in which this registry operates must be constantly monitored to direct measures of attention to the aging of the community. This study will verify the places of care for the elderly in São Carlos and identify the predominance of areas of operation of these spaces, in addition to comparing with the trend identified in 2012 of places of care for the most active and healthy elderly. It is based on qualitative and quantitative research, exploratory, documentary, retrospective and descriptive design. The analysis is based on the thematic content and will follow the categories implemented by the IMC in the document Guide 60+, organized in health, social, education, transportation, and others. It will be held in the city of São Carlos, in the interior of São Paulo, and the documents and records contained in the CMI will be consulted through virtual platforms, due to measures to confront COVID-19. The active search in social networks and application of the snowball technique will be used to complement the data. The collection will take place between the years 2020 and 2021 obeying the ethical aspects, and this study is linked to an ongoing research at the IMC. It is expected to verify if the trend of implementation of the municipality in larger amounts of places of care for the active elderly continues, or if there was any change due to the tendencies to the phenomenon of aging. This IC study may contribute to identify new care demands in this municipality, in addition to contributing scientifically to the study theme.
