Basidiomycete bioluminescence and the ascomycete biological clock system have been described in the literature. With this project, we want to understand the regulation of basidiomycete bioluminescence and develop biotechnological applications. Initially, a N. gardneri genetic transformation protocol will be implemented and later on, the cultivation of mutant N. gardneri strains for clock candidate genes. Through molecular biology techniques such as RT-qPCR and CRISPR-Cas9 technology, we aim to discover which are the candidates for clock genes of this species, verifying their relationship with the rhythmicity and bioluminescence in fungi.
