Permeability evaluation of different protocols for dentin hypersensitivity after erosive-abrasive challenge

Abstract

Dentin hypersensitivity is frequently found in dental practice and there is still no ideal treatment protocol for these cases. The aim of this study will be to investigate the effects of different treatments for dentin hypersensitivity using the following protocols: placebo varnish (negative control - VP), fluoride varnishes (Duraphat, positive control - VF); bioactive ceramic crystalline solution (Biosilicato® - SS); dental adhesive system (Single Bond Universal - SB); light-cured fluoride varnish (PRG, - VB). Fifty bovine root dentin will be obtained in the dimensions of 4x4x1 mm and will receive the application of the above-mentioned treatments. After 6h, the samples will be analyzed by dentin permeability and then, submitted to an erosive-abrasive challenge with 4 cycles/day for 5 days. At the final, a final permeability test will be performed. If the data pass in the normality and homogeneity tests, they will be submitted to the two-way ANOVA test two repeated measures with a significance level of 5%.
