Abstract

The following research project main's focus is conducing a research internship abroad and exploring Raymond Williams' works, both at the British Library at London and at the Richard Burton Archives at Swansea, thus contributing to the development of my master's research entitled "Para uma análise e tradução do livro Communications de Raymond Williams". Although different selective traditions of intellectuals have already studied Raymond Williams, inside and outside the United Kingdom, and as a result numerous translations of his works have been published, in Brazil, his communication theory still needs further reflection from a perspective that focuses on the debate on education and society. Therefore, this work aims to translate and comment the book Communications written by the Welsh author and published in 1962 by Penguin. The focus of the translation and analysis work is to understand the connections between Williams' theories of culture and of communication, and in so doing, emphasize the centrality of education in his work, thus contributing to the national debate and for the scientific dissemination of the author's work in Brazil. With this objective in mind, the range of texts available in the mentioned archives would be of great value. (AU)
