Abstract

Technological advances and prolonged exposure time to screens aredirectly associated with sedentary behavior in the pediatric population, as a consequence ofan increase in cardiovascular risk factors and obesity, which can accompany the individualin adulthood. The validation of tools that assess perceived barriers and facilitators forreducing sedentary behavior in children and adolescents in South American countries, studying the psychometric properties of an instrument to understand its level of safety andvalidity is important in order to prevent preventive behavior. health and its aggravatingfactors. Objective: (i) to test the confidence (test-retest) of a questionnaire on barriers andfacilitators of sedentary behavior in children and adolescents in South America; (ii) and thepredictive validity of the questionnaire with sedentary time measured by accelerometry.Methodology: SAYCARE Study is an observational study of multicentric feasibility in asample of children and adolescents from 3 to 17 years of age (children: n = 161 adolescentsn = 177. This pilot was developed in São Paulo and six other cities in South America. South:Teresina (Brazil), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Santiago (Chile), Montevideo (Uruguay), Lima(Peru) and Medellín (Colombia). Parents for children and self-reported for teenagers. Theaccelerometer was used for at least 3 days, including at least one weekend day. Comparethe values of sedentary time, using accelerometers, by quartiles of measured sedentarytime. For the analysis, statistics will use descriptive analyzes (mean, median, standarddeviation and proportions). The agreement between the basic measures will be calculatedbased on the kappa coefficients for the categorical variables in order to answer objective I;and intraclass correlation coefficients for the quantitative variables by p art of Spearman andPearson correlation coefficients for parametric and nonparametric variables, an objective ofresponding to objective II. The confidence interval adopted will be 95%, with criterion ofstatistical significance ± = 5%.
