Abstract

The present project aims to promote the dissemination of Oceanography at local and national levels, through the propagation of the activities of the 'Laboratório de Paleoceanografia do Atlântico Sul' (LAPAS/IO/USP), using strategies of communication that increase the public interest on scientific knowledge, spreading themes ranging from the study of the marine environment to understanding global warming to the point on how this knowledge leads to the domination of economic resources that comes from this environment. O LAPAS/IO/USP develops research of excellence and unprecedented in the country related to climate change and the determination of markers of petroleum deposits and natural gas, through calcareous nannofossils. Thus, based on the theoretical basis of Communication, Scientific Dissemination and Journalism, the actions will be focused on four fronts: publications of report articles and news report with the support of the 'Laboratório de Estudos Avançados em Jornalismo Científico' (Labjor/Unicamp); actions of Press Office; actions linked to Digital Journalism - LAPAS; and actions in Social Networks. Therefore, it is expected to meet the demand of little disclosure about the theme - taking into account the right of the public to access scientific research on Oceanography related to climate change and marine resources - being the Scientific Journalism of LAPAS a strategy to enable the interface between science and the public.
