Abstract

Rice bran is a by-product of rice processing. It is rich in oil but has the disadvantage of being rich in enzymes that oxidize lipids. But, in this proposal, rice bran that is stable in terms of lipid oxidation will be used because it was pre-treated. This raw material will be kindly provided by Tech Bran, a specialist in rice bran stabilization. The objectives of the present project are to evaluate the effects of the variables of the extraction process with pressurized liquid or pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) in an intermittent regime on the yield (X0) of rice bran oil using green solvent (ethanol). Will be studied as variables, the static time (St), which is the contact time between the solvent and the rice bran in the extractor in each cycle (C), the rinse volume (VS), and the solvent/feed ratio (mass of rice bran) (S/F) in addition to the temperature (T). The influences of these variables will also be studied in relation to the composition of rice bran oil in terms of free fatty acids (FFA, Free Fatty Acids), total phenolics (TPC), and gamma-oryzanol content.(AU)
