Abstract

Spatial expression of technical labor division mediated by networks in the current period, productive spatial circuits articulate local firms and territories to global logics and big transnational agents in search for higher spatial productivity and profits. Anápolis municipality in the state of Goiás, the biggest industrial park in the upstate, has been through a productive restructuring since the 1990s, welcoming dozens of pharmaceutical companies in an industrial district that had, since the 1970s, the primary function of processing agricultural and husbandry goods from its surrounding regions. This research seeks to understand the inclusion of Anápolis territory in the productive spatial circuit of medicines, with disputes and conflicts resulting from this dynamic. In order to achieve this, we intend to reconstitute the topology of production, distribution, exchange and consumption of pharmaceutical goods; to identify the agents involved in cooperation circles in space; to measure implementation and use of technical networks that endow the municipality with territorial fluidity; and to evaluate the hierarchy of uses of Anapolis territory. The data will be obtained from documental sources of public and private institutions, fieldworks, interviews, databases and institutional websites. At the end of this study, we expect to reach a better understanding about the insertion of this portion of Goiás territory in the territorial division of labor and the logics that deepen reproduction of regional inequalities. In this perspective, we intend to contribute with the study of processes that occur outside Sudeste Region and, in this way, participate in Geography debates about contemporary Brazil, most significantly in post-pandemic period.
