Abstract

The present study proposes to think about a communication that is capable of affecting people differently in relation to cane toads. To do this, he proposes an alliance with the cane toads to create new ways of communicating. Such an alliance will be designed with the concept of "companion species" by zoologist and philosopher Donna Haraway (2020, 2021) and through monitoring the work of researchers from the Laboratory of Natural History of Brazilian Amphibians (LaHNAB) at Unicamp. It is interesting to learn practices and get to know materials used by scientists to gain intimacy with amphibians and put them in relation with the perceptions found in reports and online posts about the cane toads through artistic practices in visual creation workshops, together with different groups, using the methodology of speculative fabulation. In this way, we intend to create and evaluate materials that can tell other stories about the cane toads in the face of the Anthropocene, escaping the prejudiced approaches and marked by anthropocentrism that predominate in mass media.
