Associated to the scholarship:21/12264-9 - A techno-economic evaluation of emerging technologies and green solvents coupling to the two-dimensional system of extraction, separation and analysis to obtain phenolic compounds from waste of the coffee and plant-based beverages industry, BP.PD

Consumer demand for healthier products that generate less impact on natural resources has boosted the development of innovative ingredients and processes. Therefore, green technologies and solvents can be chosen to extract bioactive compounds from industrial waste, allowing the production of a high added value product and reducing waste disposal. Using alternative technologies and solvents can be a smart approach to creating more efficient processes. This can result in higher extraction yields of compounds that are purer, while taking less time, energy, and causing less harm to the environment. Thus, the objective of this project is to study the Natural Deep Eutectic Solvents (NADES) and the hydrophobic NADES (NAHDES) associated with pressurized liquid (PLE) and ultrasound (HIUS) technologies for the extraction of the lipid and phenolic fractions present in the solid waste from the production almond and peanuts-based milk. In-silico analysis and different configurations of technologies, solvents, and operational parameters will also be studied to obtain the fractions of non-polar and phenolic compounds. (AU)
