Abstract

This internship project aims at implementing a computational setup for assessing the interoperability capability of power electronic converters (PECs), focusing on the deployment of wireless technologies. Hence, instead of targeting cable-based interactions among the communication interfaces of PECs, this research abroad will support the analysis of wireless-based data exchange among entities. The 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi technologies based on the IEEE 802.11 standard are expected to be implemented in a microprocessor electronic board, allowing one to assess how they behave upon different conditions of data packet transmission features, considering the usage of the Modbus communication protocol. As a consequence, the obtained research results are expected to compose a comparison basis for later analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of cable-based implementation of communication infrastructures for PECs within the context of microgrids.
