Abstract

The development of electrochemical biosensors based on low-cost platforms and nanostructured materials represents an alternative to traditional diagnostic tests since they allow the decentralization of analyses and improved sensitivity in detecting essential biomarkers. These attractive characteristics make this analytical device a powerful tool as a diagnostic test that can help health agents make quick decisions. For the use of electrochemical biosensors to be expanded, it is necessary to obtain new materials, especially nanomaterials, which provide unique properties to the electrode surfaces and increase their ability to immobilize biorecognition molecules, and reduce detection limits. Furthermore, employing new technologies that are scalable and environmentally friendly are important aspects for these sensors to be successfully commercialized. Given the relevance of the application of electrochemical biosensors and their impact on society, this project proposes the development of electrodes based on 3D printing using commercial conductive filaments and nanostructured metallic oxides generated by CO2 laser ablation and subsequent immobilization of these surfaces with biorecognition molecules for the detection of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2), an important biomolecule whose production in the body is related to the occurrence of breast cancer.
