Abstract

The project aims to identify and analyze the joint use of two curricular approaches, namely: 1) complex socio-environmental themes and 2) emerging technologies, such as metapresential and immersive co-learning environments. The research object is the initial teacher training courses for basic education in Brazil, which were previously mapped in studies by the Alfredo Bosi Chair in Basic Education. The main body of documents will be the Political-Pedagogical Projects of the degree courses that have presented innovations in their curricular practices. Other primary sources will be direct and intensive observations through unstructured interviews with the coordinators of these courses, focusing on the joint curricular approach aforementioned. The working hypothesis is that the introduction of emerging technologies into pedagogical practices enables the development of interdependent and systemic perceptions of the world by integrating distinct and non-traditional teaching methods in the approach to problems. This encourages teachers and students to work on socio-environmental issues in a participatory, critical, open and active way in everyday life. Another hypothesis is that, although these technologies are based on structures of information and knowledge domination, their incorporation into curricula encourages the democratization of knowledge and the autonomy of subjects. As a final product, the aim is to establish a proposal for a subject to be taught in the USP Interdisciplinary Science Degree Program that has a joint approach - complex socio-environmental themes and emerging technologies.
