Abstract This research project refers to the execution of two specific objectives of the doctoral research "Philanthrocapitalism and community responses to health emergencies in the Global South: the case of the G10 Favelas response model to the COVID-19 pandemic" (Process 2023/04711-0), to be carried out during a research internship abroad. The research objectives include identifying patterns of philanthrocapitalism in the Global South, mapping and analysing the trajectory of the G10 Favelas response model based on these patterns, and understanding its diffusion or comparing it with other cases of responses to the COVID-19 pandemic crossed by philanthropy. During the internship abroad, the following objectives will be developed: (a) map the trajectory of the G10 Favelas response model to the COVID-19 pandemic and (b) understand how it relates to philanthrocapitalism and health policies in Brazil. These objectives correspond to a historical case study based on process-tracing and, therefore, on source triangulation. Despite being empirical research, this is not field research and, therefore, the interviews will be carried out virtually. Interview techniques and document analysis are specialties of the responsible researcher and were structuring in the academic trajectory of the beneficiary. The host researcher and institution present the necessary expertise for a promising analysis of the collected data, given their experience with studies on health policies in Brazil and responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, which will be fundamental for the correct identification of the potential for generalization of the lessons found in this study and wide dissemination of the findings. | |
