Abstract

Nuclei considered "regular" are tightly bound and have a binding energy of approximately 7.5 MeV. On the other hand, there are nuclei whose binding energies are significantly below this value, termed weakly bound nuclei. Due to this unique property, reactions involving these nuclei become complex and fascinating. The breakup channel, in particular, can affect all other reaction channels, providing valuable information about the properties of these systems. Moreover, many of these nuclei are structured into clusters, representing a challenge both experimentally and theoretically in the field of nuclear physics. The Heavy Ion Reactions Group (GRIPe) has been conducting a systematic study of these reactions involving beams of weakly bound nuclei at the Open Laboratory of Nuclear Physics (LAFN) in recent years. In order to continue this investigation, we propose in this project the experimental determination of unprecedented cross-sections for different reaction channels for the $^{6,7}$Li+$^{119}$Sn systems. The measurements include angular distributions of elastic and inelastic scattering, as well as nucleon transfer, performed at the LAFN of the Institute of Physics at the Universidade de São Paulo (IFUSP), at energies near the Coulomb barrier. The experimental determination of various reaction channels poses a significant challenge for theoretical models aiming to simultaneously describe different processes. Therefore, it plays a fundamental role in understanding reaction mechanisms associated with nuclear collisions at energies near the Coulomb barrier. It is worth noting that this project is integrated into the context of a FAPESP thematic project, under the number 2019/07767-1, with the active participation of the supervisor of this work.
