Abstract

The investigation is essential so that one of the most important objectives of Journalism is achieved: informing the population, after checking and proving the fact. In the daily life of media outlets, investigation is present, from an interview to document consultation. However, Investigative Journalism goes far beyond that, after all, the agenda can last days, months and even years. Not just a complaint, the investigation can generate several changes in the event, whether political, social or economic, of actors, circumstances, the event itself, etc. In other words, the mission of Investigative Journalism is to promote questions, raise doubts and debates about what is being analyzed, as well as carry out an in-depth study of the data and its surroundings, observing possible inconsistencies. Although it is an important journalistic production technique, the curriculum Universities, such as Unesp, USP, UFMT and UFBA, only offer subjects such as journalistic investigation or specialized journalism, which deal with diverse fields of activity, but do not cover the need. Bibliographic and documentary research, supported by books, magazines, articles, websites, etc., and with field research with students from the Journalism course at Unesp-Bauru, will seek to respond to the objective of the research, which is to highlight the importance of knowledge about Investigative Journalism for the professional training of journalists, carrying out a conceptual review on the topic. Thus, the final result will be able to reveal, not only the relevance of studying this theory, but also enable knowledge about the demands of students, highlighting the current news of Investigative Journalism, for future professionals in their careers.
