Abstract

The Scientific Initiation scholarship holder for this project aims to investigate theimplementation of educational policy in state schools in São Paulo. The research seeks toanalyze the interactions among principals, teachers, and students through the lens ofstreet-level bureaucracy, emphasizing how bureaucrats, through the exercise of discretion,make everyday decisions that shape policy implementation. In this regard, the study intends toidentify the decisions and practices of principals and teachers and examine their effects onstudents' educational trajectories. The planned activities include a comprehensive literaturereview; the design and administration of interviews with principals, teachers, and students; observation in schools; the preparation of analytical reports; and the systematicanalysis of collected data.
