Abstract

GaMnAs is a diluted magnetic semiconductor having potential application in spintronic. On this project, we will study the magnetic properties of Mn+As co-implanted GaAs samples, with different Mn implantation energies, and under different rapid thermal processing conditions. A Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) magnetometer will be used for measuring sample magnetization as a function of temperature, after zero field cooling and field cooling, and hysteresis curve. Electrochemical C-V profiling and Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry will be used for depth profiling of carriers and Mn, respectively. The student must learn how to operate the equipments, to perform the measurements and to participate in the analysis of the experimental results.
