Abstract

This project is related to the electrical characterization of SnO2 thin films, doped with Er, Yb and Ce, deposited by sol-gel dip-coating process, concerning mechanisms of electrical conducitivity and the kinetics of charge carriers trapping by defects present in the material. Deposition conditions will be evaluated and the electrical characteristics of films, with different concentrations of rare-earth doping, and electrodes, will be measured. Measurements to be carried out include: resistivity as function of temperature, optical absorption, X-ray diffraction, current-voltage as function of temperature and photo-excited conductivity decay. Our laboratories have all the facilities necessary to accomplish this project. Besides, our group has obtained a good knowledge on SnO2 matrix.
