Abstract

The use of computerized systems for seed or seedling imaging analyzes is an alternative to reduce subjectivity and improve the speed of the seed physiological potential evaluation. The objective of this research was to verify the efficiency of the Automated Seed Vigor Analysis system (Vigor-S) in identifying differences in the vigor of soybean seed lots, compared to the Seed Vigor Imaging System - SVIS® and other recommended tests (accelerated aging and tetrazolium) to evaluate the vigor of soybean seeds. Two cultivars of soybean (BMX Power RR and 7166 RSF IPRO) were used, each represented by ten seed lots with acceptable germination for seed commercialization and differences in vigor. Seeds were evaluated for germination and vigor (germination first count, tetrazolium, traditional and saturated salt accelerated aging), field seedling emergence, SVIS® and Vigor-S analyzes, in three experimental periods. Data were submitted to analysis of variance, in a completely randomized design (laboratory tests) and in randomized blocks (field tests); mean values were compared by the Tukey\'s test (p <= 0.05). Results indicated that the computerized analysis of seedlings using the Vigor-S system is efficient for the evaluation of the physiological potential of soybean seeds. The saturated salt accelerated aging test for 48 and 72 hours is sensitive to estimate the seedling emergence potential of soybeans. (AU)
