Abstract

The present thesis has as its object the study of the actions related to the memory regarding Mark Antony, an important politician and military leader at the end of the Roman Republic. Our main character was the target of different memoralistic actions: remembering, forgetting, silencing, and rehabilitating. To understand how the memories regarding Mark Antony were built, preserved, erased, and rehabilitated, we divided our analysis into the observation of channels for the transmission and sharing of memories, the actors (both individuals and social groups) involved in this process, and the mobilized themes, both regarding or not, Mark Antony, because the sharing of memory is done by a group, with a selection of references from the past, through the use of certain communication support. To do so, we shed light on different ancient sources, both written and material culture. (AU)
