Fabricio Motteran

Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-MG), with a specialization in Environmental Management with an emphasis on ISO 14001 (FUMEC). Holds a Masters degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) and a Ph.D. in Sciences from the School of Engineering of São Carlos at the University of São Paulo (EESC-USP). Completed postdoctoral research at the University of São Paulo and at the University of Cádiz (UCA), Department of Physical Chemistry, Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences (Spain), focusing on the treatment and degradation of toxic xenobiotic compounds and the identification of metabolites (metabolomics). Has experience in sanitary and environmental engineering, with emphasis on wastewater treatment, environmental and applied microbiology, anaerobic digestion, biological energy production (methane and hydrogen), physicochemical and chromatographic analyses, light and electron microscopy, operation of biological reactors, nutrient removal, recalcitrant compounds, molecular biology techniques applied to the monitoring of biological reactors, and studies on microbial diversity and population identification (metagenomics and next-generation sequencing techniques). Currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Center for Technology and Geosciences (CTG) of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). Researcher at the Environmental Sanitation Laboratory (LSA) and the Laboratory of Molecular Biology and Environmental Technology (LABIOTA). Permanent member of the Graduate Program in Biotechnology at UFPE, the Graduate Program in Civil Engineering (Environmental Technology area) at UFPE, and the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences at UFPE.
