Associate Professor in the Department of Biomaterials and Oral Biology at the School of Dentistry, University of São Paulo (FOUSP). She holds a degree in Dentistry from FOUSP and a direct PhD from the Oral Biology Research Center Department of Dental Materials at FOUSP, with an exchange program at Aachen University, Germany. She completed her postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois at Chicago, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Luisa A. DiPietro, analyzing the microRNA expression profile during the wound healing process in skin and oral mucosa. She is the editor of the international book Lasers in Dentistry: Guide for Clinical Practice, published by Wiley Blackwell in 2015 and translated into multiple languages. She is an advisor in the FOUSP Graduate Program in Dentistry, specializing in Oral Biology and Laser research, with a focus on tissue repair, salivary gland hypofunction in diabetic conditions and under antineoplastic therapies, oral mucositis, microRNAs, and photobiomodulation (Laser, LED, and PDT), including mechanisms of action, dosimetry, and clinical applications.
