Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). Campus de Botucatu. Instituto de Biociências (IBB)  (Institutional affiliation from the last research proposal)
Birthplace: Brazil

Full Professor at the Institute of Biosciences of Botucatu (IBB), São Paulo State University (UNESP), where he works in the field of Biochemistry and coordinates the Laboratory of Bioassays and Cellular Dynamics (LaBIO). He holds a Bachelors degree in Biological Sciences from UNESP (2005) and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP, 2008), including a doctoral sandwich period at the Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen (UMCG), the Netherlands. His research focuses on Biochemistry and Cell Biology, with emphasis on signal transduction mechanisms in mammalian cells, molecular regulation of cellular differentiation, and inter-tissue communication under physiological and pathological conditions. His research lines focus on bone biology and its systemic interfaces, tissue bioengineering, development of biomimetic materials, functional analysis of biomaterials, interactions between bone and metabolically active tissues, as well as nanotoxicology and cellular responses to biomaterials and physicochemical stimuli. His group seeks to understand bone as an endocrine and systemic regulatory organ, investigating the integration between tissue microenvironment, bone remodeling, and chronic diseases, with a translational focus on regenerative strategies and the development of advanced biomedical technologies. He coordinates the Laboratory of Bioassays and Cellular Dynamics (LaBIO), established with support from FAPESP and consolidated as a multi-user platform dedicated to the study of cellular and molecular processes in diverse biomedical contexts. LaBIO brings together undergraduate, MSc, PhD, and postdoctoral researchers, as well as national and international collaborators, contributing to the training of highly qualified human resources and to scientific production in international peer-reviewed journals. The laboratory also provides support to multiple research groups, strengthening scientific and technological integration at institutional and interinstitutional levels. He is the coordinator of INCT-BIOCRON the National Institute of Science and Technology in Bone Biology and Control of Chronic Diseases, headquartered at UNESP. The institute articulates a national and international research network dedicated to investigating the systemic functions of bone, its relationship with chronic diseases, and the development of innovative biomimetic and therapeutic approaches. INCT-BIOCRON integrates researchers from multiple Brazilian and international institutions, consolidating UNESP as a reference center in bone biology, regenerative medicine, and advanced biomedical technologies. He maintains scientific collaborations with institutions in the United States, the Netherlands, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, India, and Canada, participating in cooperative projects, training programs, and scientific exchange initiatives. He served as Vice-Director of the Institute of Biosciences of Botucatu (20212024), contributing to the academic and scientific management of the unit, and has been a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow since 2013. His trajectory is marked by academic leadership, consolidation of multi-user scientific infrastructure, and the proposition of innovative approaches at the interface of bone biology, tissue bioengineering, and advanced biomedical technologies.
