Marielton P. Cunha is a PhD Professor (MS-3.1 level) of Bioinformatics with an emphasis on Microbiology at the Department of Genetics, Evolution, Microbiology and Immunology at the Institute of Biology (IB) at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). Graduated in Biomedicine from the Federal University of Goiás (2012), Master in Parasite-Host Relationship Biology from the Federal University of Goiás (2015) and PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of São Paulo (2019). He developed his Post-Doctorate at the Institut Pasteur de São Paulo-IPSP (2020-2024). He was part of the GVN Rising Stars Mentorship Program (2023-2024), organized by the Global Viral Network (GVN), being mentored by Prof. Dr. Esteban Domingo. He has experience in the area of Bioinformatics with an emphasis on Virology, working mainly on the following topics: genomic sequencing, molecular evolution and viral metagenomics.
