Bachelors in Physics from Harvard University (1983), masters in Physics from Harvard University (1983) and doctorate in Physics from University of California (1988). Currently is full professor at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the Sao Paulo State University, and is Director of the ICTP South American Institute for Fundamental Research. Has experience in the area of Physics, with emphasis in Superstring Theory, focusing on the following subjects: superstrings, supergravity, supersymmetry. Won the TWAS Physics Prize of 2009 and the APS John Wheatley Award of 2021. Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) and full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the Sao Paulo State Academy of Sciences. (Source: Lattes Curriculum)
