Adjunct Professor at the School of Nutrition at the Federal University of Bahia (ENUFBA), with a degree in Nutrition from the University of São Paulo (2008), a Master's (2012) and a PhD (2016) in Health Sciences from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Nutrition at the School of Public Health, University of São Paulo (USP) between 2017 and 2021, and conducted research internships at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University (2015) and at the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, University College London (2019). Her research focuses on the intersection of Nutrition, Food, Culture, and Society, with an emphasis on the sociocultural aspects of food through an intersectional approach. Her work primarily addresses topics such as dietary practices and choices, food insecurity, nutritional and water insecurity, the effects of racism on health, environmental racism, social vulnerability, and the health conditions of traditional communities. She is a member of the Race Health group and is part of the Lancet Commission on Racism and Child Health. Her scientific production seeks to understand how social, cultural, and environmental factors influence food choices and food security, particularly in vulnerable groups, while also investigating the consequences of structural racism and social inequalities for public health, emphasizing the importance of intersectional approaches to understanding the complex dynamics of food and health.
