Abstract

This study aims to develop and apply the "serious game Comunica-enf" using virtual reality to improve the knowledge and confidence of nursing students in communication with patients and families. The specific objectives are: 1) to describe the content and technical development process of the "serious game Comunica-enf" in virtual reality; 2) evaluate the "serious game Comunica-enf" regarding appearance; 3) to evaluate the impact of the use of the "serious game Comunica-enf" on the emotions of students in nursing; 4) to evaluate attitudinal, procedural and cognitive learning developed by nursing students on the topic of communication using the "serious game Comunica-enf". Methodology: Methodological research to develop and evaluate the "Comunica-enf" (objectives 1 and 2) and quasi-experiment (objectives 3 and 4), which will be developed in three stages. In the first stage the content will be developed with support of pertinent literature; the technical development of the "Comunica-enf" in virtual reality will be carried out by contracted team respecting pedagogical principles of virtual learning. The second stage will evaluate the game's appearance through a specific instrument from the participation of 20 teachers and 27 nursing students. Finally, the third stage will involve an educational activity with " Comunica-Enf", in which the emotions of nursing students will be measured during the simulation of virtual reality and evaluate attitudinal, procedural and cognitive learning immediately upon completion of the activity simulation and two weeks after.
