Abstract
Phase II, the project submitted here, is part of the same research line as the previous Thematic Project: The rehabilitation process and its interfaces with individual quality of life and culture (2004/2008 Reference Process No. 02/12360-7). The current proposal aims to validate other instruments, understand and explain constructs related to chronic conditions and the rehabilitation process and assess educative models to improve patients' adherence to care in the rehabilitation phase. The populations under analysis are people in chronic conditions, going through a rehabilitation process, with cardiovascular diseases or victims of burns or other traumas. Hence, like in the previous proposal, this research involves qualitative (ethnographic) and quantitative studies (instrument validation and randomized trials), as well as exchange between researchers from different areas and institutions: the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing and the Nursing Department at Campinas State University School of Medical Sciences. Besides involving nursing faculty, physicians, biostatisticians and anthropologists, as main and collaborative researchers, this proposal includes the supervision of post-doctoral fellow, M.Sc. and Ph.D. student education (with different professional areas, including physiotherapists, psychologists and nurses) and undergraduate student education.
