Abstract

The pesticides uses are beneficial to society by increasing´s food availability, but negative aspects such as soil contamination, water and food are associated with the misuse. The strawberry crops is expanding in many regions of the country due to the crop adaptation, climate and the fruit characteristics. The quinoa is a halotipic specie, originary from the Andes, with potential production in many regions of the world due to the nutritional composition of their seeds. The tomato is a widely consumed vegetable, and beyond their basic nutritional qualities, is considered a functional food that brings health benefits. The intensive use of pesticides in strawberry and tomato crops disrespecting the Good Agricultural Practices has caused concerns about possible contamination of the final product and many multiresidue methods have been employed to evaluate and determine the levels of residues in food samples. In the case of quinoa, due to small knowledge of this cereal, there are no published scientific data regarding the pesticide residues. Therefore, the objective is the quantification of residues of different chemical classes in strawberry, tomato and quinoa, using the method of sample preparation QuEChERS, and the determination of residue levels in commercial samples of strawberry, tomato, and 25 varieties of quinoa from Peru. The detection will be performed using GC-MS and LC-MS/MS. (AU)
