Abstract

Pesticides have been widely used in agriculture to control pests, diseases and weed. Although the use of these substances brings benefits to society by increasing food availability, negative aspects are associated with misuse such as soil contamination, water and food. The tomato is a vegetable very consumed, and beyond their basic nutritional qualities, is considered a functional food bringing health benefits. The intensive use of pesticides on crops of tomatoes in breach of the good agricultural practices have caused concerns about possible contamination of the final product and many multiresidue methods have been employed to evaluate and determine the residues levels in food samples. Therefore, the aim this study is the validation of the method of sample preparation QuEChERS for quantification of residues of 50 pesticides of chemical classes different in tomato, determination of residue levels in commercial samples, evaluation of profile distribution of pesticide residues in cuticular and subcuticular tissues of tomato, as well as the evaluation of residues in whole samples without washing and after 2 washing procedures. The detection will be performed using LC-MS/MS with electrospray interface system, operated in positive mode ionization.
