This research program correlates micro and macroevolution, including integrative approaches of developmental biology, life cycles, speciation, phylogeography/population genetics, ecological niche modeling, phylogeny/taxonomy, biogeography/faunal studies. The goal of this research program is to study the dimensions of marine life, transversally, investigating patterns and processes at different and nested biological levels, in questions related to the variables time and space in their several scales, using as study object the planktonic and benthic cnidarians, a group with wide distribution, highly variable life cycles and development.
