Abstract

This is a project that aims to bring Professor José M. A. Martínez, University of Valadollid (Spain) for four research institutions in Brazil: Unicamp, USP, Unifesp and Carlos Chagas Foundation (14 to 30/8). His coming as a visiting professor will be of paramount importance for the development of research in the areas of interpersonal relationships, conflict and the construction of moral autonomy in school, carried out by research groups that integrate: the GEPEM (Group of Studies and Research in Education Moral - Unesp/Unicamp), the GEPEC (Group of Studies and Research in Continuing Education - Unicamp), LEDA (Laboratory for Studies on Development and Learning - USP), the Carlos Chagas Foundation (represented by the team that conducts a research on evaluation of values), and also by members of the Working Group ANPEPP (National Association for Research in Graduate Psychology) Psychology and morality. His research on interpersonal conflict in its various dimensions and interventional procedures in schools that seek to favor more balanced relations, cooperative and respectful relate to investigations conducted in our research groups. Also nearby are concerns that such studies may be present in the training of teachers and there are links with the formation of public policies that might think living together at school. Investigations conducted in this area, as well as other researchers, have shown that it is urgent we seek alternatives that promote the reduction of violence, dialogical conflict resolution and the development of a collective project that aims at a more respectful coexistence for all stakeholders of the school. A current survey reported that 57% of teachers believe that schools in an area violent act, that, disregarding the existence of institutional violence, 95% of teachers believe that students are the main perpetrators of school violence, but that both students (83%) and teachers (44%) are victims of it, that the majority (74%) believe that the lack of respect, values and education for the students is the main cause of violence in schools, beyond education at home (49%) and family breakdown (47%). This demonstrates that insecure and unprepared to deal with interpersonal conflicts, school professionals consider the management of conflict situations among students as being deviant teaching role. Therefore propose external interventions to reduce them, believing that they are also not responsible for this training. Thus, through this partnership we will have the opportunity to expand knowledge about the research area and discuss the proposals that are being made in Brazil and Spain. It is what is expected with the Cooperation Agreement between Unicamp and the University of Valladolid being signed. In this agreement the two institutions intend to collaborate in the area of education, through the development of projects, internships, publications, and other activities. In addition to the consultation meetings in the research groups, lectures and courses that will be taught in different institutions mentioned above, the coming of Professor Martinez inspired us to conduct an International Seminar, directed the scientific community and the school community, whose theme will be living in school. Through this seminar aims to discuss research and interventions that have been carried out both in Brazil and in Spain regarding training in values and problems related to interpersonal conflicts that affect everyday teachers and students, such as violence, bullying and cyberbullying.
