Abstract

This project aims to immobilization of gold metal nanoparticles into nanostructured films obtained by Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) and layer by layer techniques (LbL) for detection of several analytes by electrochemical techniques. The sensor units are composed using ultrathin films of metal nanoparticles with the enzyme deposited onto solid substrates. The flexibility of controlling the thickness of the films offered by these techniques can be exploited to achieve low response time of the sensor units. These units will be immersed in liquid systems and the acquisition and characterization of results will be carried out by electrochemical measurements. Mixed films of nanoparticles and GOx as well as their interaction with analytes, will be studied with spectroscopic techniques such as absorption in the UV-Vis, FTIR and Raman and electrochemical (cyclic voltammetry and amperometry). The films will also be characterized by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) allows to determine its thickness and investigate molecular interactions between the material and the analyte. (AU)
